POM Workshop: Astavakrasana (Eight Angle Pose)

This month, Flex yoga teacher Ruthie McGrath will give you an in-depth introduction to our October POM, Astavakrasana!

Astavakrasana elaborates further on last months’s Shoulder Pressing Pose, also requiring strength in your arms, and balance, but taking things up a notch by balancing your weight sideways.

The Sanskrit name is made up of three syllables: Ashta (eight), Vakra (bent / curved) and Asana (seat / pose / posture), but is also said to refer back to the sage Astakrava, the spiritual master of King Janaka.

During our 2-hour workshop, you will learn the preliminary postures that help you build up to being able to perform this challenging posture. Ruthie will then lead you safely into, and out of, Astavakrasana, and teach you how to do so on your own.
